Red Devil United Lacrosse athletes programs will be tailor made for the movements and demands of lacrosse. Each program will have explosive movements that improve lower body, upper body, and rotational power. Programs will also include a strength block that aims to improve overall strength. Lastly, core and proprioception exercises will be added to improve overall balance and stability. Movements done in the strength class will include lower body pushes and pulls, upper body pushes and pulls, hip hinges (flexion) and extension core stability exercises, and core rotation and anti-rotation exercises. Each program will include a proper warm-up and cool down. During the program athletes will be tested in the 5-10-5, 20 yard dash, and vertical jump.
5-10-5 is a change of direction drill that focuses on deceleration, re-acceleration, thoracic rotation, and explosiveness from the inside and outside wedge of the foot.
20 Yard Dash
20 yards is the maximum distance for acceleration. Acceleration is mainly about proper force application and hip, quad, and ankle flexion and extension. We test it for athletes because we want to see if they're applying the appropriate force at appropriate angles. Faster the 20 yard dash the more explosive the athlete.
Vertical Jump is relevant because it's a test of lower body explosiveness. This test relates to hockey players by measuring loading of hips, legs, and acceleration within first the athletes first two steps
In order to get your athlete started we ask that you call or email us to set up your free evaluation. During this evaluation we take your athlete through a functional movement screening. This allows us to see deficiencies in movement and help us tailor a program that is the right fit. This evaluation will end with a short consultation with our sports performance specialist and a list of options that to assure the right program for your athlete!
