The following provides for a common understanding of the expectations of Lacrosse Trainer/Red Devil United and its players, coaches and parents. We firmly believe this is a partnership among all three entities and that each plays an important role in the overall success of the program and the player experience. The primary focus is and will be that of the player and his/her safety, growth, and well-being.
Honor the game; be respectful to all involved; other teammates, coaches, officials and parents
Understand team comes first. Decisions made are for the good of the team.
Recognize our team thrives on trust and respect. You must trust your coaches, your teammates, and behave in a way that earns their respect.
Be coachable. There is often more than one way to do things correctly. In some cases, your coaches will select a specific strategy for the benefit of the entire team, even if it does not benefit a particular individual.
Be open to correction and learning new approaches. Be willing to make suggested changes by coaches.
Bring your best and do your best. We all want to win and it takes every players efforts for that to happen. Do not cut corners and strive every day to improve.
Be focused on the sidelines. Everyone is "in the game" whether on or off the field. Be ready at all times to go in.
Have fun, encourage one another and help one another.
Honor the game, be respectful to all involved; players, parents, other coaches, officials
Provide positive feedback in the spirit of developing both the player and the person.
Be a positive role model by showing good sportsmanship, a positive attitude and remembering to have fun.
Speak positively of Lacrosse Trainer & RDU programs and respect the decisions of the Directors.
Maintain professionalism. Refrain from speaking about other players to other parents. Share any feedback or concerns directly with player’s parent, the coaching staff and/or directors as appropriate.
Demonstrate appropriate team leadership on the sidelines. Respect the decisions of the refs and if need to challenge a decision do so in an appropriate manner. Remember you are the ambassador and front line of this program.
Do encourage and promote a strong spirit of team and help each player be his/her best.
Explain and share your coaching style and expectations with the parents and players.
Be willing to admit mistakes and be accountable for actions that may cause unintended impacts to the program or the players.
Be upfront and honest with regards to decisions made and always remember the impact you are having on young athletes and the higher purpose of what you do.
Be a positive role model for your child. Encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy. Demonstrate positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or other sporting event.
Reinforce the importance of honoring the game; to play by the spirit of the rules; and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
Maintain appropriate sportsmanship with coaches, officials, players and other spectators. Use of inappropriate language, yelling at players, other team’s parents, or any other negative behavior is not tolerated and could impact participation in our program.
Address any questions, concerns or issues directly with the coaches, the directors and other officials as appropriate. Direct communication is always the most effective approach.
Respect the 24- hour rule- if you have a concern, complaint or issue it is best to wait 24 hours before raising it either face to face or via electronic forums.
Refrain from coaching on the sidelines. Respect and trust the coaching staff and their role. Often times you are not aware of the goals, strategies and reasoning for decisions made. Doing this only creates confusion and frustration for both your player and his/her teammates.
Do cheer and support your player and the team. Be encouraging at both practices and games.
Remember, while we all enjoy winning, and our efforts are aimed at having a highly competitive program, we first and foremost are about the journey, the development of players and sharing the passion of this great game!
